Changing your Kollar

1) Gather all supplies: clean kollar, protector pad, pad or gauze
to clean stoma, & diluted Betadine or Nolvasan solution (please ask

what your vet prefers you to use).                                                  2) Loosen Velcro strap over the tube.

3) Transfer ID tags to clean kollar                                                        4) Remove cap from tube and slide kollar off gently.

5) Use Betadine/water on pad to clean tube &
     surrounding area
                                                                              6) Stoma should look clean and kept free of hair

7) Slide clean protector pad over tube                                                 8) Slide clean Kitty Kollar over tube and against neck

9) Replace cap on tube and fasten kollar around neck                 10) Fasten Velcro over end of tube and you're done!

With practice, this entire process should take you less than a minute. If you are doing a quick change and do not have to clean the stoma, even less. Frequent changes are important to allow you to inspect the stoma. Therefore it will be very helpful for you to have two kollars as in this demonstration. You will wash the kollar you just removed and it can dry overnight and be ready for when you need it.
